Field Trips

Our curriculum based field trips are led by our local guides. Get out of the classroom and come discover all of the beauty the swamp has to offer!

At Santee State Park

“The Osprey” Pontoon Boat Field Trip

Ride the “Osprey” Fisheagle Pontoon boat out into the swamp and learn all about the cultural and natural history, native and non-native plants. Take your kids on a field trip they will never forget where wildlife abounds! $23 each for Students and Scouts, Adults $25 each, Teachers free.

Swamp Ecology Hike and Reptile Program

Includes a hike into the edges of the forest or swamp (your choice!) In the swamp we’ll dip net for dragonflies, water beetles, fish and more! We’ll set up a touch tank of swamp critters students can discover. We’ll also bring local, native reptiles including non-venomous snakes and turtles for a hands-on experience to learn how these reptiles adapt to a swamp habitat.

Fees: $8 each if booked as a stand-alone program. $3 each if booked in conjunction with the pontoon boat tour. Teachers are free. Ages 4 and up are welcome on this trip. Every adult will need to pay Santee State Park a $2 entrance fee.
